Barter Theatre presents master workshop on Anne FrankNovember 10, 2010
Barter Theatre professional actors Danny Vaccaro and Kelly Klein describes what it is like to play title roles in the dramatic story of “The Diary of Anne Frank” at a free master workshop presented prior to the Center Stage performance on Nov. 9 at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset. Vaccaro plays the role of Anne Frank’s father, Otto, while Klein portrays Anne Frank, the young girl whose poignant words have kept her spirit alive in the minds and hearts of readers all over the world for more than 60 years. The actors gave a brief overview of the history of Anne Frank and emotional toil of portraying two icon characters during one of the most turbulent times in history. “The Diary of Anne Frank,” a two-act play told from the prospective of Anne Frank who kept a diary while hiding from the Nazi German authorities in Amsterdam during World War II, was presented by Lake Cumberland Performing Arts in partnership with The Center. Anne Frank is one of the most renowned and most discussed Jewish victims of the Holocaust. She died of typhus while imprisoned in a concentration camp in 1945.
