Lake Cumberland Performing Arts in partnership with The Center presents ‘’Twas the Night Before Christmas’November 24, 2010
Lake Cumberland Performing Arts, in partnership with The Center for Rural Development, will present a timeless holiday classic, “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” on Monday, Nov. 29, at the next Children’s Prime Time Theatre performance.
This hilarious musical, inspired by the poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” and the real life of its author, Clement Moore, introduces Santa in a particularly beneficent light. The performance is set to begin at 7 p.m. in The Center’s theatre immediately following the “Spirit of Giving” community tree-lighting ceremony.
The show’s cast has been invited to join in the free community event and help The Center turn on the lights on a decorated 20-foot Christmas tree on display through the holiday season in the front lobby.
The Spirit of Giving tree-lighting ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception followed by a holiday performance of Christmas music presented by the Bell Tones children’s choir leading up until the moment when the lights are officially turned on the Christmas tree.
Afterwards, guests will move to the theatre for the holiday performance of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The poem, penned by Moore in 1822, is a must-read for many American families during the holiday season.
