Support Rogers ScholarsSeptember 17, 2012
Old Town Deli in downtown Somerset is giving back to the community and the youth of Somerset and Pulaski County by supporting The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars youth leadership program in a new promotional fundraising campaign through the end of the year.
Starting on Sept. 18—and continuing on the third Tuesday of each month through December—Old Town Deli will make a donation to the Rogers Scholars program for each customer who presents a small “youth card” printed by The Center for the fundraising event at the time he or she places a dine-in or take-out order.
The cards are free and may be picked up at The Center at 2292 South U.S. 27 (at Traffic Light 15) in Somerset or are available at Old Town Deli up until the day of the fundraising event.
“We are very excited to be partnering with the Rogers Scholars program at The Center for Rural Development,” said Heather Estep, owner and operator of Old Town Deli. “We hope that our efforts will raise significant funds to financial aid the program.”
The local restaurant is the latest partner to support the work of Rogers Scholars, a one-week summer youth leadership program that provides leadership and exclusive scholarship opportunities for rising high school juniors in Southern and Eastern Kentucky.
“Rogers Scholars is one of the premier youth leadership programs in Southern and Eastern Kentucky,” said Delaney Stephens, youth programs coordinator and community liaison for The Center. “Not only does The Center realize that youth are this region’s future leaders, but businesses like Old Town Deli realize it too.
“Their support of this program is very much appreciated, and patrons of Old Town Deli can enjoy a great meal while also contributing to a very worthy cause,” he added.
Other dates for the Rogers Scholars fundraising event at Old Town Deli are Oct. 16, Nov. 20, and Dec. 18.
