Scholars hear from former Gov. CollinsJune 27, 2013
Former Kentucky Gov. Martha Layne Collins spoke to Rogers Scholars Wednesday on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia.
Collins, the only woman ever elected to the highest office in Kentucky, was invited to speak at a luncheon before the first class of Rogers Scholars.
Among the highlights of her administration was the landing of the Toyota plant in Georgetown that remains one of the largest employers in the state today.
After leaving public office, Collins became president at St. Catherine College in Springfield, Ky., in 1990.
Thirty-two incoming high school juniors from Southern and Eastern Kentucky are on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College this week for the opening session of Rogers Scholars.
