Sixty incoming high school freshmen from Southern and Eastern Kentucky were at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) and Morehead State University (MSU) last week for the final two summer sessions of the 2013 Rogers Explorers program.

Rogers Explorers spend three days and two nights on a college campus where participants develop their leadership skills and take part in hands-on activities in math, science, and technology.

“These students certainly have what it takes to become the future leaders of Southern and Eastern Kentucky,” said Delaney Stephens, community liaison and youth programs coordinator. “The Center congratulates all graduates of this year’s program. We also thank the four higher education institutions that partner with The Center to provide educational leadership opportunities for youth in our region.”

Rogers Explorers on EKU campus graduated on Tuesday, and the final summer class of  Explorers at MSU received certificates of achievement at Friday’s night graduation program.

Other Rogers Explorers camps were held earlier this summer on the campuses of Lindsey Wilson College and the University of the Cumberlands.
