Representatives of the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Awards (EIEA) sponsoring partners joined 2014 award recipient Cassie Hudson to celebrate her work with Partnership Housing Inc. at an EIEA Hometown Event in Owsley County.

Hudson, executive director of the nonprofit organization, was named one of the region’s top entrepreneurs in Southern and Eastern Kentucky last month at an EIEA luncheon and regional awards program.

EIEA representatives, Partnership Housing board members, community leaders, and friends and family members celebrated Hudson’s win in the Not-For-Profit Entity award category at an EIEA Hometown Event on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Owsley County Action Team Building.

“To be an entrepreneur means a person must be able to take risks in order to begin new enterprises,” said Hudson, who came on board as executive director of Partnership Housing in 2012. “Being an entrepreneur takes a special kind of person who has faith in themselves and who is willing to work hard to accomplish their goals.”

“Entrepreneurs, like Cassie, represent the true spirit of entrepreneurship,” added Larry Combs, EIEA board chairman and emcee for the EIEA Hometown Event. “They are innovators, creative thinkers, and aspiring leaders who are shaping the future of Southern and Eastern Kentucky through job growth and development.”

The EIEA program—honoring excellence since 2001—recognizes small business owners and entrepreneurs in 55 Kentucky counties within the region who exemplify the spirit of entrepreneurship by creating and managing a successful business enterprise.

The program is sponsored by Eastern Kentucky University College of Business and Technology, Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation, Southeast Kentucky Economic Development (SKED), and The Center for Rural Development.
