Breast Cancer Symposium
2292 U.S. 27
Somerset, KY 42501
Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and Alton Blakley Family of Dealerships, in cooperation with the American Cancer Society, Kentucky Cancer Program, and Southern Kentucky AHEC, invite breast cancer survivors and their families to join them for the 12th annual Breast Cancer Symposium.
This year’s speaker is 2007 Miss Kentucky Kaitlynne Postel. Kaitlynne has strong ties to this area, having lived in Somerset for six years during her early childhood and later, winning Miss Monticello competition in neighboring Wayne County. That title paved the way for her to win Miss Kentucky and represent the commonwealth in the 2008 Miss America competition.
As Miss Kentucky, she traveled to schools throughout the state, sharing her platform, “Standing Tall and Respecting All,” encouraging students to respect each other as a way to help prevent bullying and promote self-esteem.
A University of Kentucky graduate, Kaitlynne is also an accomplished vocalist, with numerous musical leading roles and performances with local and national recording artists. She also was in the top 20 national finalists in Pepsi’s Pass the Mic competition. Kaitlynne continues to freely share her musical gifts as a member of the vocal team at Southland Christian Church, where she also serves as a leader for Serve the City – Woodhill ministry.
