Small business owners can learn how to electronically record and track business transactions, and service industry employees can brush up on their customer service skills in two new instructor-led summer classes offered by The Center for Rural Development in Somerset.

The Center’s Your Center of Learning business and workplace training program is expanding its summer schedule to include a class in Quickbooks, a professional finance management program, and a class focusing on teaching the fundamentals of customer service.

During the two-day Quickbooks class, students will learn the basic features of the business accounting software and later examine how to use the advanced features to create estimates, convert estimates into invoices, process sales tax and payroll, generate reports, review client data, and work with other applications.

The fundamentals of customer service class will illustrate how good customer service can be the cornerstone of a successful business. In this one-day, instructor-led course, frontline associates and service industry staff will learn guidelines and best practices for building a loyal customer base.

The following business and workforce training classes have been scheduled by Your Center of Learning:

  • Access 2010 Level 2—July 9-10
  • Excel 2010 Level 1—July 20
