An exhibit by landscape photographer Gary Compton of Somerset is on display at The Center for Rural Development.

The exhibit features photographs from some of Compton’s extensive travels from hiking in the Katmai National Park in Alaska to Maui’s black sand beaches in Hawaii.

“Gary’s work is exceptional. He captures nature in all its spectacular colors and glory,” said Dianna Winstead, associate director of arts, culture, and events. “We are excited to showcase some of the work in his collection representing the best of the best from his last 10 years of travel.”

Compton has traveled throughout the United States and other parts of the world to capture some of nature’s most spectacular images.

“My bucket list does not have a bottom to it,” Compton said with a chuckle. “I have done a lot of crazy stuff. I try to capture images that are not your typical tourist photos.”

Compton opened Landscape Expressions Photography in January of 2006. View a complete photo gallary of Compton’s collection posted on his website.
