October training classes

The Business & Community Training Center has released the October training schedule for soft-skills and technical skills classes at The Center for Rural Development.

Each class costs $149 per person. Please register at least five days before the start of class.


Excellence in Supervision
Oct. 5
9 a.m.-4 p.m.
ExecuTrain of Kentucky

As a supervisor, you must lead employees to success and understand that their success is your success. This course will show you how to gain the respect and support of your employees; use coaching skills to help others excel and accomplish goals; deal effectively with changing times and confusing situations; communicate confidently with your employees, peers, and manager; and establish expectations for high performance.

 


Microsoft Office Excel 2016 Part 1

Excel can help you organize, calculate, analyze, revise, update, and present data. In this course, you’ll learn how to create and develop Excel worksheets and workbooks in order to work with and analyze the data that is critical to the success of your organization.

 


Get Going with Intuit QuickBooks

Instructor: Carol Whitson

Get started using QuickBooks by learning the basic features to record and track your business transactions. QuickBooks users will learn how to set up a company and update the chart of accounts; build and manage lists; manage inventory; record a product sale; create invoice for service; and work with bank accounts.


Learning to Lead

Most managers would prefer to be known as excellent leaders rather than excellent managers. Upon completion of this training class, you will understand the sources of leadership power, the primary ways to handle resistance to change, the difference between managers and leader/managers, and developing and communicating your vision.

Microsoft Office Publisher is a desktop publishing software application capable of producing greeting cards, certificates, newsletters, and other printed publications. This course will teach you how to create, format, edit, and share publications.

Microsoft Office Excel 2016 Part 2

Take your Excel skills to the next level. This course builds on your skills sets and start you down the road to creating advanced workbooks and worksheets. Learn how to leverage the power of data analysis and presentation in order to make informed, intelligent organization decisions. You will work with functions; work with lists; analyze data; visualize data with charts; and use PivotTables and PivotCharts.


Keep Going with Intuit QuickBooks

Instructor: Carol Whitson

This course is for advanced-level QuickBooks users who want to advance their skills and improve performance. Topics range from memorizing transactions, customizing forms to sharing files with an accounts. You will memorize transactions; customize forms; use other QuickBooks accounts; create reports; create graphs; track and pay sales tax; prepare payroll; use online banking; estimate, time track, and job cost; and write letters.


Project Management Essentials

ExecuTrain of Kentucky

This course covers fundamentals of project management. Students learn how to identify project participants, goals, objectives, activities, and constraints. Course activities also cover activity dependencies, activity analysis, project schedules and budgets, network diagrams, Gantt charts, CPM scheduling, and activity duration compression.
