Wednesday Wedding Wisdom: What to do Before the Big Day

 Loutre Wedding Hi Friends!

I’m McKinzie Loutre, the Events Coordinator here at The Center for Rural Development. Many of you may not be aware, but we offer a full range of wedding consultation services to help couples plan and coordinate every last detail leading up to their special day. In our fourth Wednesday Wedding Wisdom of 2017, I’m going to look at how the number of guests you have at your wedding will dictate everything else, and therefore, have the biggest impact on your wedding budget!

What to do before the big day

You’ve put all your time into planning your wedding the past few months, and the day is finally in reach. Many of you may be wondering what exactly you should be doing just days before your wedding. I’ve put together a helpful list, just do ensure you don’t miss anything important!

  • Final dress fitting
  • Organize RSVPs and guest list
  • Make your final payments to vendors
  • Make sure you have your marriage license ready to go
  • Confirm travel arrangements for any bridal party and family members
  • Create and finalize a timeline for yourself and those helping
  • Decide on a shot list and timeline with your photographer

Taking a honeymoon?! Confirm hotel and travel reservations

  • Send final guest counts to your caterer and venue
  • Ensure your groomsmen and any others know when to pick up and drop off tuxes
  • Organize your programs, menus, table numbers, guest book, etc.
  • Make sure any extra details are ready to go (wedding favors, send-off arrangements, etc.)
  • Have bridal party gifts ready

  • Spa day! Get yourself pampered with a fresh facial, manicure, and/or pedicure
  • Steam and pick up your wedding dress
  • Pack a bag for your wedding night and/or honeymoon
  • Assign someone to be in charge of gifts, tux returns, and extra details that need to be at the venue
  • Do you have something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue?!
  • Ceremony rehearsal- have you hired a day-of coordinator or designated a trustworthy friend or family member to oversee the ceremony?
  • Have fun! Breathe, relax, and enjoy the journey!
