The Center for Rural Development, in partnership with Lake Cumberland Performing Arts, presents In the Mood, a 1940s musical revue, on March 11 in a spectacular Center Stage performance featuring a 13-piece orchestra and a cast of professional singers and dancers.

In the Mood, set to begin at 7 p.m., takes you back in time—a time when everyone was singing and dancing to the same kind of music.

The live two-hour show will inspire audiences of all generations with its singers, dancers, and period costumes, fine orchestral arrangements, vocalists delivering songs from the 30s and 40s, choreographed dance routines, and shear American pizzazz.

In the Mood features the String of Pearls Orchestra and 19-member cast of singers and dancers performing more than 50 songs from the Big Band era. Treasures such as Swingin’ on a Star, Tuxedo Junction, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Sing Sing Sing, Chattanooga Choo Choo, I’ll Be Seeing You, La Vie En Rose, Take the A Train, and The Last Time I Saw Paris are just a few of the songs performed in the musically jam-packed program.

In addition to the Center Stage performance of In the Mood, guests are invited to enjoy a catered Pre-Show Dinner prior to the show, starting at 5:30 p.m., prepared and served by Karen’s Catering.

The dinner menu will include marinated beef, loaded mashed potatoes, country style green beans, chopped American salad, yeast rolls with butter, chocolate caramel cake, ice tea, water, and sodas.
