New date & time for cooking classes

Final two classes in the 2019 “The Traveler’s Table” international cooking series
move to Saturday in October and November

The final two cooking classes in the 2019 “The Traveler’s Table” international cooking series, International Asian Cuisine and Fundamentals of Cooking: The Base of it All, have been rescheduled to a new date and time.

International Asian Cuisine Cooking Class moves to Saturday, Oct. 19: 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

A rare Saturday night cooking class will be held on Oct. 19 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. for participants interested in learning how to make traditional Thai food.

Chef Mete Sergin will be preparing Pad Thai, Por Pia Tod (fried Thai spring rolls), and Khao Niaow Ma Muang (Thai mango sticky rice dessert).

Fundamentals of Cooking: The Base of it All moves to Saturday, Nov. 16: 10 a.m.-Noon

Participants will learn how to make the “5 Mother Sauces” in this fun, interactive cooking class now scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m.-noon.

In this class, Chef Mete will share how these five basic sauces can be used as a base to create delicious dishes. The “5 Mother Sauces” include Béchamel sauce, Velouté sauce, tomato sauce, Espagnole sauce, and Hollandaise sauce.

Both cooking classes will be held at The Center for Rural Development, located at 2292 South U.S. 27 (at Traffic Light 15) in Somerset.

Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for students (ages 8-15).
