A Message from President & CEO Lonnie Lawson

The Center for Rural Development’s COVID19 Emergency Preparedness Plan to Protect Employees and Guests

The Center for Rural Development is functioning with a reduced workforce and maintaining operations. On Monday, March 16, Governor Beshear declared a State of Emergency and directed all non-essential facilities to close effective 5:00 pm on March 18, 2020. Therefore, all public spaces at The Center for Rural Development are closed to the general public for all non-essential services until further notice.

However, The Center is committed to the continuation of services and will continue to uphold our mission to provide leadership that stimulates innovative and sustainable economic development solutions and a better way of life for the citizens we serve. The Center will continue business both remotely and through a small number of essential employees that will continue to work to keep the building functional.

The Center is currently evaluating the following:

  • Identifying essential positions and the percentage of staff required for daily operations.
  • Instituting the ability to telecommute where possible.
  • Identifying any necessary cross training and the development of ways to function in the absence of identified essential personnel.
  • Providing direction for any events or travel that is scheduled for potential postponements, as necessary, to ensure the health and safety of guests and employees.

Most of the events at The Center for the next few weeks have either been cancelled or postponed until a later date. However, The Center will remain available for customers that need services and will be available through phone, fax or email. The situation will be monitored daily and will be adjusted as needed.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these adjustments may cause and we truly appreciate your help and cooperation during this time. During the building closure, please direct any questions or concerns to Laura Glover, Managing Director of Marketing & Events at 606-677-6000 or 606-802-1050 or
