Celebrate the holidays with The Nutcracker

The Center for Rural Development and Lake Cumberland Performing Arts proudly presents our exciting lineup of shows.

The Nutcracker
Kentucky Ballet Theatre
Nov. 30 |  7 PM

Celebrate holiday cheer and the Christmas spirit with the classic ballet, The Nutcracker. It’s not the holidays without the famous story, score, and cast of characters.

This beautiful ballet is the traditional large-scale production. The cast includes the ever-popular Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow Queen, Rat King, soldiers, mice, fairies, snowflakes, candy canes, little mice, and of course Clara and Drosselmeyer, to name a few.

The performance is set to the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky, with the Kentucky Ballet Theatre professional company dancers along with over 50 ballet students. You don’t want to miss this holiday tradition, so get your tickets now before the show is sold out!

I Have a Dream
Virginia Repertory Theatre
Feb. 2 | 10 AM and 7 PM
The phenomenal impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is chronicled in this compelling dramatization of the life and times of one of the most influential and charismatic leaders of the American century. Dr. King puts his philosophy of nonviolent protest to work. He gains recognition and becomes the dominant force in the Civil Rights Movement during its decade of greatest achievement.

The Little Red Hen
Virginia Repertory Theatre
April 14 | 10 AM and 7 PM
This side-splittin’, foot-stompin’ musical adventure follows The Little Red Hen as her common sense meets the tricks of the conniving fox to lead the sheep, the cow, the horse, and the pig to a life lesson. Your whole family will have a hootin’ ‘n hollerin’ time!
