Two new plays coming in 2022

The Center for Rural Development and Lake Cumberland Performing Arts announce two new School Time Theatre and evening performances have been added to the schedule in 2022.

I Have A Dream: Wednesday, Feb. 2

School Time Theatre: 10 AM

6:30 PM performance for entire family

In celebration of the life and times of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Virginia Repertory Theatre brings I Have A Dream to stage for a 10 a.m. School Time Theatre performance followed by an evening performance at 6:30 p.m. for students and their families.

This compelling dramatization of one of the most influential and charismatic leaders of the “American Century” and the Civil Rights movement will inspire students as they experience this great leader’s struggle and his dream of lifting “our nation from the quicksand of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.”

The play traces Dr. King’s life from his humble beginnings in Atlanta, GA, through his extraordinary evolution into one of the 20th Century’s foremost figures.

 

 

The Little Red Hen: Wednesday, April 14

School Time Theatre: 10 AM

6:30 PM performance for entire family

This side-splittin’, foot-stompin’ musical adventure follows The Little Red Hen as her common sense meets the tricks of the conniving fox to lead the sheep, the cow, the horse, and the pig to a life lesson. The whole family will have a hottin’ ‘n hollerin’ time.

The School Time Theatre performance of The Little Red Hen, presented by Virginia Repertory Theatre, will open at 10 AM followed by an evening performance at 6:30 p.m. for the entire family.

Tickets for the evening performances are $15 (plus fees) for adults and $10 (plus fees) for students. For tickets, call the Box Office at 606-677-6000.

School Time Theatre (10 AM performances): Admission is $5 per student or teacher. One complimentary teacher (supervisor) admission will be provided for every 10 paid admissions. Each additional teacher (supervisor) admission is $5. Click here to make your School Time Theatre reservations.
