The Center for Rural Development presents Ballet Magnificat! production of The Scarlet Cord on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. in Somerset.

The Scarlet Cord depicts an incredible drama of two missionaries not willing to compromise their faith in Jesus Christ. They live and minister in the midst of one of the cruelest regimes the world has ever known, the communist Soviet Union.

The main character, Rehab, learns a hard lesson when she is abandoned by the Soviet commander she loved. The missionaries share the hope of Jesus to this dejected woman and a moving story of revolution unfolds – a human heart turning to the ultimate truth, Jesus Christ.

This ballet shows the Lord’s amazing plan of redemption working in the midst of unlikely places, woven through life like a scarlet cord.

Tickets are $13 (plus fees) and may be purchased online or by calling the Box Office at 606-677-6000. All tickets are for reserved seating.

The Scarlet Cord is presented by The Center in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Arts, South Arts, and sponsors Pep & Pizzazz and Neil W. Shoemaker.

Ballet Magnificat! is America’s longest running Christian ballet company. The Jackson, Mississippi-based company was founded in 1986 by International Ballet Competition silver medalist Kathy Thibodeaux and her husband, Keith.
