Forward in the Fifth, a nonprofit organization and an affiliate of The Center for Rural Development, is hosting a College and Career Readiness Summit on Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at The Center for Rural Development.
Dr. Bill Symonds, director of the Global Pathways Institute and Professor of Practice at Arizona State University, will be the keynote speaker. He helped create the Pathways to Prosperity project and was the primary author of “Pathways to Prosperity: Meeting the Challenge of Preparing Young Americans for the 21st Century.” Symonds served as Business Week’s chief education correspondent for many years.
School administrators, guidance counselors, career service staff from colleges and universities, workforce development, career and technical education faculty, and high school and college students are invited to attend. The summit has been approved for EILA credit.
The program will culminate with the announcement of the 2015 Appalachian Leaders in Education (AppLE) award winners during an awards luncheon recognition program.
