Lake Cumberland Performing Arts, in partnership with The Center for Rural Development, presents Theatreworks USA’s performance of We the People, a musical revue that brings American Civics lessons to life, as part of the 2018-2019 School Time Theatre season.

Students will have a blast learning about the three branches of government, the First Amendment, presidential elections, democracy, the judicial process, and more. Barreling through a variety of musical styles relevant to today’s youth, including rock, rhythm-and-blues, and hip-hop, We the People will instill American pride in audiences of all ages, and perhaps even inspire them to get involved and make a difference. www.twusa.org

 School Time Theatre

School Time Theatre, presented by Lake Cumberland Performing Arts in partnership with The Center for Rural Development, seeks to share the magic of the arts with students and adults in Southern and Eastern Kentucky.

All School Time Theatre programs are selected with two goals in mind: education and quality. Many are based on familiar children’s literature or historic characters, emphasize positive values, or introduce students to unfamiliar art forms.  In addition to the sheer enjoyment of the arts, attending live theatre has been shown to fulfill or enhance many of the goals of the average school curriculum. “Thematic Connections” information is provided for each performance, and free study guides are made available. All performances are open to the public.

Visit School Time Theatre page to learn more about the 2018-2019 season.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, provides operating support to Lake Cumberland Performing Arts with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. www.artscouncil.ky.gov
