Pulaski’s gifted and talented students exhibit projects at Engineering Expo
|
A civil engineering project, built by a fifth-grade student at Pulaski Elementary School, was selected by a panel of professional engineers from approximately 260 entries as the overall district winner at the 2008 Engineering Expo.
Judges were impressed with the originality and creative design of Somer Schmidt’s “Convert a Step,” a stair step model designed to help people with mobility issues. The project is described by Somer “as an indoor and outdoor solution which could replace the traditional staircase.”
She was one of 12 finalists whose projects qualified for the top three positions in the overall district competition. The district winners were announced May 7 at the conclusion of the two-day event,
