The Center for Rural Development and Forward in the Fifth continued a week-long series of live “College and Career Readiness: Planning Forward” webinars Monday afternoon in The Center’s video studio.

The afternoon webinar on careers in information technology, science and math, and communications, which will also be available online for middle and high school students in Southern and Eastern Kentucky and beyond to view and learn more about college preparation, included host Michael Cornett, director of marketing and public relations for The Center, and panelists Alesa Johnson, project manager for Somerset Community College; Wynona Padgett, community affairs and promotions director for Clear Channel Lake Cumberland; and Thomas Gilbert, director of information technology and services at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

The webinars are presented by Forward in the Fifth, a nonprofit organization and affiliate of The Center; The Center; Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative; Green River Regional Educational Cooperative; WIN Learning; and Sonic Foundry.

The webinars are a complement to the statewide Operation Preparation initiative March 12-16, in which of eighth-graders and sophomores are learning about a variety of careers directly from professionals in numerous fields.
